Customer goal:

Cut electric bill to almost nothing in a state where net metering is not true net AND allow customer to cut the cord with the power company at any time. All power is now located in the home if the grid power goes out.


These homeowners wanted redundancy built into the power strategy of their waterfront home in a beautiful and rural part of Alabama. We were able to tie solar tiles and a diesel generator into a battery storage bank that allows the residents to utilize solar and have back up for power outages.

Collectors: 6344 watts of solar collectors consisting of 122 52 watt solar TILES

Inverters: SMA SB6000US grid tie inverter, 2 SI4058 US Island inverters (Stand alone and grid capable) and AGM battery bank.


System up and running and very low electric bill. Home can run on batteries recharged by solar, diesel generator or grid. Home can run electricity from grid only or from generator only.
